David R. Ballard

David R. Ballard, Jr., 58, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, at his home.

He was born December 6, 1958, in Leavenworth, KS, the son of David Ralph Ballard Sr. and Clara Mae Pate Ballard.

On April 13, 2002, in Georgetown, he was united in marriage to Terri A. Koeller.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marines from 1976 to 1979.

He was the owner/operator of Ballard’s Custom Insulation.

David was a car enthusiast; he enjoyed working on cars in the Rusty Steel Rat Rod garage with his boys and teaching them what he knew. He loved the outdoors, fishing and riding horses with his daughter. He was all about family, his community and work. David was a jack of all trades and helped everybody. He was a big believer in taking care of people.

In addition to his wife, Terri; he is survived by five children, James Cunningham (Stephanie), of Sedalia, Brady Cunningham, of Oklahoma City, OK, Josh Ballard, of Sedalia, Shay Cunningham, of Sedalia, and Isabelle Ballard, of the home; a grandson, Oliver Cunningham; siblings, Debbie Callahan, Greg Ballard, Terry Ballard, Lori Grove, Jeff Ballard and Shawn Ballard; and his work family, Austin Lewis, Ishmael Bergonza, Jose’ Hernandez, Jason Miles and Josh Shull.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings, Jeanette Starr and Darrell Ballard.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Ballard officiating.

Casket bearers will be James Cunningham, Brady Cunningham, Shay Cunningham, Josh Ballard, Josh Shull, Jose Hernandez and Ishmael Bergonza.

Honorary bearers will be his work family.

Burial with full military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery at Crown Hill.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Liberty Center or Remember to Dream Therapeutic Horse Riding, in care of the funeral home.
