Myrtle E. Buck

Myrtle E. “Myrt” Buck, 83, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born September 12, 1934, in Osage County, KS, a daughter of Clyde and Florence (Anderson) Smith. She was married to James P. “Jim” Buck Sr. who preceded her in death December 12, 1993.

She graduated from Topeka High School in 1952. She worked for SWBT for 29 years, retiring in May 1986.

She enjoyed bowling, dancing, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of Sedalia Elks Lodge 125 and Moose Lodge 1494.

Myrt is survived by three daughters, Debra Wulser and husband, Greg, of Concordia, Cathy Buck, of Sedalia, and Shari Buck-Moore and husband, Jimmy, of Sedalia; a son, James P. Buck Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Sedalia; three sisters, Betty Waser, of St. Louis, Ruth Blauw, of Leawood, KS, and Florence Kersten, of Grants Pass, OR; one brother, Peter Smith (Karen), of Topeka, KS; ten grandchildren, Michelle Fuehring (Jeff), Michael Clevenger (Billie), Matthew Johnson (Meagan), Jeremy Wulser (Jasmine), Marc Johnson (Kristy), Chris Sousley (Sarah), James P. Buck III (Natasha), Ashley Purchase (Jon), Jimmy D. Moore Jr. (Allie), and Joshua Moore (Melissa); 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson; and two sisters, Norma Dietzman and Letha Jansen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.

Casket bearers will be Michael Clevenger, Matthew Johnson, Marc Johnson, Chris Sousley, Jay Buck, Joshua Moore, Jimmy D. Moore Jr., Ashley Purchase, Michelle Fuehring and Jeremy Wulser.

Honorary bearers will be Judy and Virgil Kurtz, Cookie and Ellis Tilman, Rich Posz, Betty and Vaughan Hart, and members of the Elks Lodge.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to DCI Sedalia (the dialysis clinic).
