Charles Leonard Singer

Charles Leonard Singer, 81, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

He was born September 19, 1931, in Fortuna, MO, son of Charles Edward and Maye Irene Leonard Singer. On October 28, 1950, in San Diego, CA, he married Betty E. Wasson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Singer was a 1949 graduate of Hughesville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an engineer and supervisor for AT&T in Lee’s Summit until retiring as a farmer in the Bothwell Community. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was a Baptist deacon. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Ararat Shrine in Kansas City. He served as chairman of the Mt. Herman Cemetery board and on the board of directors of the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and machining.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a daughter, Becky Imhauser, and her husband, Bill, of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Joe Carr and Leah Carr, both of Sedalia; two brothers, Virgil Singer, of Hughesville, and Larry Singer, of Independence; and a sister, Virginia Cicle, of Columbus, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dr. Steve Carr; and a brother, Loyd Singer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Sedalia, with the Rev. Marlin Brown and the Rev. Chris Guffey officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Abney, Jim Chancellor, Vernon Horn, Ron Cunningham, Dave Hagebusch, Dr. Chester Kirkpatrick, Paul Coffelt, Larry Mueller, Jeremy Wise, Tommy Klein and Larry Pifer.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Herman Cemetery Association, Sedalia Youth Center in care of Cornerstone Baptist Church, or First Baptist Church.
