Phyllis Earlene Putnam, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at The Neighborhoods in Columbia, MO.
She was born August 23, 1934, in Smithton, daughter of Earl and Mildred (Stark) Momberg.
Phyllis was the valedictorian of her class at Smithton School. She played the drums and was the captain of the volleyball team.
On September 21, 1952, in Otterville, she was united in marriage to Wilbur C. Putnam, who preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.
The family enjoyed going to the Lake of the Ozarks and Pomme de Terre on vacations. She and Wilbur spent winters in Florida. They spent one year touring the States and visited every state except for Alaska.
Phyllis assisted her husband with the family business, Putnam Petroleum and Equipment Company in Chillicothe, as the bookkeeper.
She was a lifelong member of Smithton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Putnam (Peggy) of Chillicothe, Mark Putnam (Jacque) of Columbia, and Mitchell Putnam (Laura) of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Twyman and Sandra Dickman.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022, at Smithton Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Putnam officiating.
Casket bearers are Michael Putnam, Mark Putnam, Mitchell Putnam, Tom Putnam, Jeremy Mullis and Andrew Putnam.
