Ward T. Golston

Ward T. Golston, 93, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at home.

He was born February 24, 1929, in Macks Creek, the oldest of ten children born to the late Everett George and Sybil Irma (Eidson) Golston. On October 27, 1949, in Kansas City, he married Martha Lee Brown, who preceded him in death on July 31, 2014.

Ward served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell for many years until his retirement in 1984. He then worked at A-1 Telephone for a number of years.

He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and singing specials. He always put the Lord first in his life. He was a member of Voiture 333 40&8 and Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm raising cattle, gardening, cutting wood and maintaining the pond. Ward will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to serve others.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Cox (Charles), of Sedalia, and Karen Kain (David), of Smithton; six siblings, Evelyn Golston, Gary Golston, Beverly Bonner (Henry), Glatha Hooper, all of Bolivar, Brenda Atkins (Doral), of Birmingham, AL, and Cynthia Sansom (Ray), of Ozark; three grandchildren, Jared, Andrea and Katy; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Deloris Gagnier, Barbara Smothers and Jerry Golston.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Don Satterwhite officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Vick, Tommy Vick, Richard Husband, Gary Goff, Randy Nichols, Robbie Robinson and Mike Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kain, Chuck Cox, Jared Sanders, Natalie Sanders, Chloe Vick, Ryan Sanders, Landon Moulton, Blake Mueller, Valerie Sanders, Kaiden Mueller and Adam Vick.

Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens with full military honors.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
