Alice M. Laven gained her angel wings on October 10th, 2024. Born January 25th, 2022, to Caleb Laven (Krystal Sheehan) in Kansas City MO. On November 29th, 2022, Alice joined the family of Toby (Rhonda) Morrill where she would spend the rest of her days.
Alice was born with a congenital heart defect which caused her to live most of her life in Children’s Mercy Hospital. Although Alice lived most of her life in the hospital, she was still a happy and fun-loving precious little girl who stole the hearts of many including Doctors and Nurses.
Alice never missed the opportunity to dance or to play music on her doggy piano. She also enjoyed it when Music Therapy would come in to strum the guitar and would allow Alice to strum it as well. One of Alice’s favorite songs was The Itsy-Bitsy Spider, and she loved it when her mommy (Rhonda) would dramatically wash the spider out.
Alice loved to read books, watch musicals on TV, learn sign language, drink mommy’s Mt Dew, and have her toes counted by her daddy (Toby). While Alice was in the hospital she grew a special bond with her grandma (Bonnie). They would rock, sing, and play for hours to pass the time. Alice also had a special bond with her papa (Robert), he would come visit her when she was home, and she always loved seeing him and sitting on his lap.
Alice had many siblings throughout her short life and loved each one of them. Her siblings include Ember (Daughter of Krystal & Caleb), Hayden, Briyleigh, Josh, Tonya, Racheal, Honor, Kinsley, Lucy, Kylei and Kali (Children of Rhonda & Toby) all of whom will miss her dearly. Alice is survived by numerous grandparents including Bonnie Ball, Ron (Linda) Arnold, Robert Lairmore, Tracy Lairmore, and Cynthia (Brandon) Rackley. Preceding her in death is grandparents Jerry Ball, John Laven, Rex Morrill, and Sharon McGinnis.
In addition to her grandparents Alice had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends that made her life the most enjoyable. Some of those friends included nurses, doctors, teachers, therapists, and all her friends at daycare.
People say that Alice was lucky to have such a huge support group and family, but we were the lucky ones! We were so lucky to be able to care for this little girl who was always a fighter and showed so much resiliency. No matter how sick, she would always smile at something whether it be her bubba Hayden, mommy playing peek-a-boo, or daddy getting her toes. Alice didn’t know a stranger and was one of best patients a nurse or doctor could ask for. When it was time for her temperature to be taken, Alice would raise her arm. When she needed her blood pressure taken Alice would raise her leg. Alice was also known to blow kisses to special people such as Dr. Andy.
While none of us wanted to see Alice leave this earth for her angel wings, we know that she will no longer need surgeries, procedures, and hospital stays to be healthy. Our all-mighty God has restored her body to new and she will no longer suffer any pain as she did on earth.
While Alice only lived 32 months, she left a lifetime of memories with the ones who loved her most. Alice will be forever in our hearts and may each one of us have as much resiliency as she. Until we see you again sweet baby girl!
