Alice V. Eckerle

Alice V. Eckerle, 82, of Clifton City, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

She was born July 28, 1936, in Pettis County, daughter of Charly F. and Nona J. (McMullin) Redden.

On January 25, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia, she married Russell Eckerle, who died March 4, 1989.

Alice was a 1954 graduate and president of the senior class at Smithton High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clifton City and the St. Joseph Altar Society. Alice was a supporter of the Clifton City Fire Department. She was known for having the biggest garden in Clifton City. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her family, and watching St. Louis Cardinal’s games. She never missed any of her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Surviving are a daughter, Julie Giordanengo (Bill), of Roseville, CA; six sons, Keith Eckerle (Angel), Joe Eckerle, Gary Eckerle, all of Clifton City, Roger Eckerle (Vicki), of Ionia, David Eckerle (Tammy), of Independence, and Allen Eckerle (Marla), of Hickory Creek, TX; her sister, Marjorie Leary, of Otterville; eleven grandchildren, Bryan, Brad, Angie, Erica, Tanya, Michael, Greg, Meagan, Brittany, Jessica and Samantha; fifteen great-grandchildren, Riley, Ryan, Lathon, Owen, Reed, Rianna, Ella, Achazia, Kira, Sarea, Liam, Micah, Caleb, Lionel and Madysyn.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles; and a sister, Ruth Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, with Father Phil Kane officiating.

Casket bearers will be Dale Blank, Ronnie Felten, Larry Jaeger, Tim Siegel, Mike Siegel and Stephen Siegel.

Honorary bearers will be Ella Williams, Abby Williams, Teresa Young, Kaitlyn Young and Derek Twenter.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Clifton City.

A Rosary service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
