Alice Marie Wenner

Alice Marie Wenner, 84, of Sedalia, passed away, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at her home.

She was born March 13, 1940, in Lee’s Summit, daughter of the late Lewis F. and Arawana (Branstetter) Rice. On November 7, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church, Sedalia, she married Charles Austin Wenner, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2016.

Alice was a 1958 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed cake decorating, crafts and horseback riding. When her children were young, she devoted to her life raising her children. She served as a Brownie leader and followed her children’s sports activities. She especially enjoyed watching them play soccer.

After her children grew up, she worked at Walmart as a department manager and later in the pharmacy.

She adored her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She enjoyed going to the boat with her friends.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and attended Sacred Heart Chapel.

Survivors include three children Teresa Black, of Sedalia, Tammy Lewis (David), of Smithton, and Charles J. Wenner (Joy), of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Daniel Ray Lewis (Jennifer), Deborah Marie Allen (Eric), Alex Joseph Wenner (Jennifer), and Austyn Klay Wenner; and one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Allen.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lynn Wenner, who passed away April 26, 1969; and a brother, Francis Rice.

Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 8:30 am, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Sacred Heart Chapel, followed by visitation at 9:00 am.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am with Father Brad Berhorst presiding.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
