Amy H. McMellen, 95, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, formerly of Sedalia and Marshall, passed away May 29, 2017, in Ohio.
She was born on January 9, 1922 in Alliance, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph M. and Edith A. Burkett Holloway.
In Sedalia, on December 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to William E. McMellen I, who preceded her on March 31, 1984.
Amy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and worked as an operator, dispatching trains, for the B&O Railroad. She enjoyed time spent in her flower gardens.
She is survived by four children, Peggy Karhoff, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Amy Brueggemann (Roy), of Matteson, Illinois, Denise Zahn (Gary), of Tarpon Spring, Florida, and William E. McMellen, II, of Spottswoods, Virginia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Peggy Thomas, Beverly Corolla, Nancy Pittsinger and Patricia Hoover; and one brother, David Holloway.
In addition to her husband, William, and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Holloway, Stephen Holloway and William Lee Holloway.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Roy Brueggemann officiating.
Casket bearers will be Roy Brueggemann, Gary Zahn, William McMellen II, David Brueggemann, Bryan Koth, Benjamin Koth, Eric Koth and Michael Brown.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
