Annette Marie Barnes

Annette Marie Dudek Barnes, age 58, died unexpectedly in Lee’s Summit, MO, on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She and her husband, Greg, resided primarily in Lee’s Summit, but had since the summer of 2020 spent a majority of time at the residence of her father-in-law, Judge Donald Barnes, in Sedalia.

Marie was born on August 30, 1965, in Detroit, MI. She married her husband, Donald Gregory Barnes on September 24, 1994, in Tulsa, OK. They are the parents of Alyssa Kristine “Kris” Barnes Prusia and her husband, Simeon, and grandparents of Seren Barnes, all of Lee’s Summit.

Marie was known by all as a loving and selfless person.  She was devoted to her family and a caretaker to all, but in particular to her grandson, Seren. She was member of Community of Christ Church, but while in Sedalia also attended First United Methodist Church. 

Marie is also survived by her father, David Dudek, of Punta Gorda, FL; sisters Dr. Terrie Goodpastor, of St. Petersburg, FL, Sherry Eastinger, of MI, and Veronica Dudek, of Claremore, OK; brothers Kenneth, Donald and Michael Dudek, all of MI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her father-in-law, Judge Donald Barnes, of Sedalia; and brother-in-law, Mark Barnes, of St. Louis.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Carol Barnes and mother, Rita Alexander.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Heckart Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Memorials are suggested to The American Heart Association.
