Barbara A. Ryan

Barbara (Dunn) Loveland Ryan, age 81, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born August 15, 1937, in Springfield, MO, daughter of Les and Ruby Dunn.

On February 26, 1983, she married Richard Ryan, who passed away January 10, 2017.

Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO. One of Barbara’s loves was traveling the country as a tour director in Arizona where she later met her husband Richard. For over twenty years they traveled the world and led fabulous tours for hundreds of people.

Another of Barb’s loves was volunteering. She lived to help others. She was an active member of the Jaycees Wives’ Club which was instrumental in bringing SFCC to the Sedalia community. She was involved as an active member of the Bothwell Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, accumulating over 5000 hours of volunteer work. She also was a volunteer for First Christian Church.

Barbara was a very social person who loved being with people. For years she played cards at the Senior Center and she treasured the friendships she had there. She was a member of the Pettis County Red Hat Ladies and she enjoyed dressing up and playing the part.

Barbara was an avid sports fan. She had season tickets for her beloved Phoenix Suns for many years and even kept those after she moved to Missouri. She loved attending the sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She sat on many bleachers and never complained, even in the blazing hot sun.

Most importantly she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. The loves ones she leaves behind are her children, David (Sharon) Loveland and their children: Hannah and Claire Loveland; Vickie (Charles) Homan and their children: Krista (Quenton) Phillips, Courtney (Blayne) Millsap, and Whitney Homan; and John (Carmon) Loveland. She has five wonderful great-grandchildren: Kaysen, Bryleigh, Payden, Ellie and Eastyen.

Barbara’s heart was filled not only with her human friends, but she loved her pets, Zak and Zoie. They gave her years of companionship and she loved them dearly. When they passed before her, they left a void in her life that was never filled.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.

Casket bearers will be Quenton Phillips, Blayne Millsap, Kaysen Millsap, Paul Oswald, Cody Kozak and Conner Reed.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Bothwell Ladies Auxiliary or First Christian Church.
