In Loving Memory…

Barbara Jean Elliott, 79, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born July 13, 1933, in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Earl Milton and Ethel Elizabeth Benjamin Beaver. On December 6, 1953, in Maryville, MO, she married Jefferson Darrell Elliott, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1988.

Mrs. Elliott retired from JC Penney. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1971. Barbara was a shade tree carpenter and loved doing various projects. She enjoyed woodworking and gardening. In college, she trained to be a commercial artist and did paintings throughout her life. She was an avid computer novice who loved surfing the internet and playing games.

Surviving are two children, Rick Elliott (Tammy), of Kearney, MO, and Gwynn Elliott-Gorrell (Richard), of Grain Valley, MO; two grandchildren, Captain Richard Adam Gorrell (Natalie), and Alea Gorrell-Mullins (Josh); five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Scarlette, Elijah, Micah and Isaiah; a brother, M. Robert Beaver, of Nevada, MO; a sister, Carole Jones, of Sedalia; and four nieces, Jennifer Barnier, Mary McWherter, Sarah Randall and Katie Kiger.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Messer officiating.

Casket bearers will be Gene Grimes, Rick Gorrell, Captain Richard Adam Gorrell, Richard Barnier, Kasey McWherter and Joshua Mullins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Susan G. Komen Foundation, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
