Barbara Jean Stockstill, 78, of Baldwin City, KS, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Morningstar Care Homes in Ottawa, KS, with her daughters by her side.
Barbara was born on June 19, 1939, at Willow Spring, Missouri, the daughter of Oscar and Maxine Watson.
She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO in 1957.
On January 6, 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Glen R. Stockstill in Lawrence, Kansas. They shared over forty-nine years of marriage. They moved from Sedalia to Wellsville, Kansas area in 1972 and to rural Baldwin City, Kansas in 1979.
Barbara stayed very active, she owned BJ’s Beauty Shop in Gardner, Kansas. She enjoyed family, being a 4-H leader and had many hobbies, sewing, quilting, and gardening.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Stockstill Johnson and her husband, Bimbo, of Baldwin City, Kansas, and Dana Stockstill Crawford and Darrell of Ottawa, Kansas; a son, Glen Stockstill Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Ottawa, Kansas; a sister, Carol Sue Martin of Sedalia, Missouri; Charles Stockstill and his wife, Dolores of Sedalia, Missouri, their children Mark Stockstill and Charles Stockstill and their families of Sedalia, Missouri; Sandy Land and family of Seguin, Texas; nine grandchildren, Sara Johnson and Jeremiah, Seth Johnson and his wife Julie, Kyle Johnson, Dayton Johnson, Destiny Johnson, Tyler Crawford and his wife Jessica, Travis Crawford, McKenzie Hughes and her husband Marty, Jordan Kirkland and her husband, Michael; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ryder and Rowdie “JeanAnna” Bond, Jackson Johnson, Jasper and Journey Johnson, Kinley and Kason Crawford, Lane, Cheyanne, Memphis and Carolina Hughes, Cadence Howard, Bentley Stockstill and Cali Kirkland.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Glen R. Stockstill Sr.; parents, Oscar and Maxine Watson; father-in-law, Thomas Bradford Stockstill; mother-in-law, Nannie Mae Stockstill; brother, Jerry Watson and brother-in-law, Fred Martin.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Jeremiah Bond, Travis Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Marty Hughes, Dayton Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Seth Johnson, and Michael Kirkland.
Honorary bearers will be Glen R. Stockstill Jr., John “Bimbo” Johnson, Darrell Moore, John Martin, Jeffrey Martin, and James Martin.
The family will receive friends an hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at the New Life Assembly of God at Baldwin City, Kansas on October 13, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
