Benjamin Hedrick

Benjamin Lawrence Hedrick, Jr., 73, of Appleton City, MO, passed away after battling cancer on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Appleton City Manor.

He was born to Benjamin L. and Clara S. (Buskirk) Hedrick on April 26, 1939, in Stover, MO.

Junior worked at Duke Manufacturing in Sedalia for 19 1/2 years, Tracker Boats in Bolivar, MO, and Products of America in Sedalia.

Junior loved to feed his hummingbirds. He also enjoyed making bird houses and yard birds. He loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed good weather so he could build lots of goodies for family and friends.

He is survived by six children, Cindy Lemler, of Smithton, MO, Jeffrey Hedrick, of Springfield, MO, Lori Reusch and husband Tommy, of Springfield, MO, Phil Hedrick, of Wichita, KS, Becky McFail and husband, Allen, of Springfield, MO, and Matt Hedrick and wife Carolynne, of Murphysboro, IL; five sisters, Grace Deforrest, of Reeds Spring, MO, Loretta Moon, of Sedalia, Ruth Odell and husband Roger, of Gladstone, Barbara Prock and husband Don, of Gladstone, and Joyce Vanderslice, of Appleton City; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter “Bud” Hedrick and Paul A. Hedrick; and five sisters, Lois Hedrick, Ravona Wallace, Leona Sprinkle, Edith Wilson and Dorothy Jesse.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Versailles Cemetery, with Pastor Ron Beaton officiating.

Casket bearers will be Russ Prock, Randy Lemler, Lewis Hedrick, Raymond Riggs, Brian Kruse and John Kruse.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.

Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the family.
