Bernice M. Ennis
Bernice Margaret Ennis, 81, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born in St. Louis on January 11, 1936, the daughter of William and Catherine Hoppmann.
On January 8, 1955, in St. Louis, she was married to Johnnie W. Ennis, who survives of the home.
Bernice was Catholic and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. She worked in her home as a babysitter for many years and also was a Fuller Brush representative. She enjoyed reading, and playing cards and games. She was dedicated to studying religion and singing in church, and was active in the RCIA. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and for her outspoken nature.
Including her husband of 62 years, she is survived by six children, Calvin Ennis (Roma), of Gladstone, Alvin Ennis (Mali), of Southington, CT, Johnnie Michael Ennis (Tamela), of Bethel, VT, Bryan Ennis (Brenda), of Chattanooga, TN, Shannon Ennis (Kristine), of Kansas City, and Catherine Kugler, of Kansas City; seventeen grandchildren, Aaron, Jenny, Tonya, Tasha, Andrew, Michael, Samuel, Brandon, Keegan, Benjamin, Barrett, Bailey, Stuart, Megan, Ella, Mara, and Ava; three great-grandchildren, Henry, Alice, and Eileen; sister-in-law Lori Hoppmann; and a nephew, Mark Hoppmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Gregg Kugler; and a brother, William Hoppmann.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Heckart Funeral Home with Fr. Brendan Griffey officiating.
Pallbearers will be her five sons and grandson.
Honorary bearers are Betty Jones, Katherine Hanna, and Ruth Offenburger.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, at the funeral home.
