Bertha Mae Arnold Cairer, age 88, of Sedalia, died Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia.
She was born October 19, 1926, in Sedalia, daughter of Ralph Allen and Stella Jewel Tomlinson Arnold. On February 10, 1946, in Springfield, MO, she married her life partner of 55 years, John Lee Cairer, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2001.
Bertha enjoyed years of traveling with Johnny and loved to walk the beaches of Texas picking up shells and spending winters in Yuma, AZ, with their snowbird friends from all over the US. Bertha belonged to Sedalia Good Sams and various other camping clubs.
Bertha is survived by three children, Joyce Nichols, and husband, Don, of Sedalia, Col. (Ret) John Cairer Jr., and wife, Linda, of Oak Grove, and Glenn Cairer, and wife, Deborah, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and infant brother, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.
Casket bearers will be Todd Cairer, Chad Cairer, Logan Cairer, Landon Cairer, Mason Cairer, Carson Cairer, Brayden Dunlap and Garrett Dunlap.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
