Betty Jean Anderson, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2014, at the Ozark Nursing and Care Center, Ozark, MO. She was born April 10, 1927, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Roy Edward and Mary Elizabeth Tevis-Alexander. She attended Mark Twain Elementary School and Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1945. On September 28, 1951, she was married to Albert L. Anderson lll. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Roy Lewis Alexander, sister, Helen Lucille Johns, grandson Joshua Bales, and a nephew, David Johns.

She was a homemaker, while also working at Kroger’s, Conner-Wagoner’s, and then Demand’s Shoe Store. She owned and operated Betty’s Ceramics, did crafting and had a booth at the Maple Leaf Antique Mall. She was a member of First Christian Church, Sedalia Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Social Order of Beauceant.

She loved her family, family reunions, genealogy, playing cards, her cats, knitting, gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She, along with her husband and children, went on many vacations throughout most of the United States and Canada, visiting almost every National Park. During her last few years, she enjoyed the company of her friends, while attending the Broadway Presbyterian Church weekly dinners.

She is survived by a brother, Donald E. Alexander (Mary Lou) of Leavenworth, KS, daughter, Kay B. Anderson-Bales (Bill) of Dewey, OK, son, A. Leonard Anderson IV, of Sedalia, MO, daughter, Donna E. Anderson-Parker (Bill) of Springfield, MO, a granddaughter, Courtney E. Bales-Manning (Andy), grandsons, Alex W. Bales, Brian D. Parker (Kelli), and Grant L. Anderson, two great grandchildren, Sydney Hauser and York Bales, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rob Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bales, Bill Parker, Alex Bales, Brian Parker, Grant Anderson and Andy Manning.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her name, are suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
