In Loving Memory…
Betty Jane Purchase, 82, of Green Ridge, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 30, 2013, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
She was born May 29, 1931, in Green Ridge, daughter of Lawrence L. and Nellie Calvert Ream. On September 2, 1951, in Green Ridge, she married J.L. “Chub” Purchase, who survives of the home.
Mrs. Purchase was the secretary at Green Ridge School for many years. She was a member of Green Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was known as the “donut lady” at Halloween, and was also known for her cinnamon rolls. She was always behind the scenes working hard in any activity she was involved in. Betty and Chub were true soul mates in life and in marriage and were about to celebrate their 62nd anniversary.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three children, Carrie Eilks (Kevin), of Green Ridge, Jay L. Purchase (Becky), of Euless, TX, and Joe Purchase (Sharie), of Parker, CO; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Donny), Dawn (Matt), Jacob, Johnna, Jock, Jaynee and Mackenzie; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Ronald Ream, Winston Ream, Louise Gillilan, Mary Herrick and Laddie Ream.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastors Randy and Dianna Marcum officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
