Betty Sue Griffith, 89, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born August 17, 1928, near Postal, daughter of Joseph Carlyle Glasscock and Noidene Opal (Aldredge) Glasscock.
On March 3, 1950, she was married to Donald E. Griffith, who died October 18, 1994.
Mrs. Griffith was a teacher at many elementary schools in the area, ending her career at Washington Elementary. She held a Master’s degree.
Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed keeping her house and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and caring lady.
Surviving are three children, Donald Griffith, of Sedalia, Rebecca Boehmer, of Kansas City, and Richard Griffith, of St. Joseph; thirteen grandchildren, including Denise Miller whom she raised; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Zahringer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Kevin Griffith, Andy Smith, Warren Smith, Drake Keele, JohnPaul O’Connell and Jevean Brown.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
