Bobby L. Wasson

March 21, 1949 — December 18, 2024

Sedalia

Bobby Lee Wasson, 75, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born March 21, 1949, in Sedalia, son of Bishop J. Wasson and Edna Pearl (Thomas) Krause.

On August 20, 1971, in La Monte, he was united in marriage to Arthea (Mahin).

Bobby was a 1967 graduate of Knob Noster High School and earned a degree in mathematics from Central Missouri State University. He taught school in Ballard, Marshfield, and La Monte, and later as adjunct faculty at State Fair Community College. He also worked at Hayes Wheels, Calsonic Yorozu, Swisher, and Gardner Denver, from where he retired. His most cherished role was as train conductor at PaPa’s Pumpkin Patch, a job that brought him as much joy as it did to the children who rode the train.

Bobby was a member of Parkview Christian Church, where he was a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, old cars, reading, collecting things, and traveling. Bobby will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, his friendly demeanor, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. His ever-present smile and genuine kindness will be missed.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Arthea, of the home; three daughters, Emily Greer (Matt), of Monroe, NC, Alice Megerman (Joseph), of Overland Park, KS, and Thea Carlyle (Kevin), of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Anna and Sara Greer, Golda and Orli Megerman, and Alex and Katie Carlyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Edna Mae Colson.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Parkview Christian Church, where funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.

Burial will be in La Monte Cemetery.

Honorary bearers will be Ronald Mahin, Tommy Mahin, Chet Plummer, Rick Mills, Rick Thomas, Leon Cumpton, Ralph Shead, Mo McCoy, Larry Clear, Ray Tyler, and Jimmy Tyler.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Show-Me Christian Youth Home, La Monte Cemetery, Parkview Christian Church, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
