Boneta Lee Vaughan, 102, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg.
She was born February 27, 1919, in Pettis County, daughter of J.B. and Ada (Ellis) Greer.
Boneta was a 1937 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School.
On April 19, 1941, in Topeka, KS, she was married to Walker Vaughan, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2000.
Boneta was primarily a homemaker but had worked at J.C. Penney for thirteen years.
At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Sedalia. At the church, she attended the Willing Workers Sunday School class and helped with funeral dinners.
She was also a member of AARP Chapter 660, Jolly Elders, and volunteered with the Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary. She was well known for her apple pies and her vast collection of thimbles.
Surviving are a son, Jack Vaughan and his wife Nancy, of Lee’s Summit; two daughters, Julie Hilderbrand, of Lee’s Summit, and Amy Martens and her husband Patrick, of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Grant, Lucas, Matthew, Jill, Katie, Ryan, Marissa and Megan; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Greer and Bud Greer; a sister, Virginia Greer; a son-in-law, David Hilderbrand; and a great-granddaughter, Peyton Schnieders.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeremiah Greever officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Casket bearers will be Matt Vaughan, Aaron Elwell, Pat Martens, Ryan Martens, Trevor Schnieders and Stefan Ballage.
Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
