Cecil Warren Bohon, Jr., 90, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia.
He was born May 9, 1933, in Sedalia, son of Cecil Warren Bohon Sr. and Florence (Finkland) Bohon.
On February 10, 1956, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Lois Jean (Thurman), who survives of the home.
Cecil was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a salesman for Taystee Bread. He also worked at Inter-State Studio for a time.
He was a longtime member of Calvary Episcopal Church and was a Mason. He enjoyed woodworking, making bird houses and various wood crafts, and taught his skills at the Ewing Vocational Center. When his daughter was young, he coached Khoury League softball.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, Lois, survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Dieckman (David), of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Matthew Dieckman (Charla), Brian Dieckman (Winter), and Emma Dieckman (Lucas Richardson); five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Cheldyn, Anna, Mattie and Lorelei; two great-great-grandchildren, Tucker and Raedyn; and a brother, John Bohon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elaine Rupe.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Calvary Episcopal Church. A luncheon will be served following the memorial service.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Honorary bearers will be Kenneth Durrill, Dean Schnakenberg, Bill Rabourn and Tom Hood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Calvary Episcopal Church or Meals on Wheels.
