Charles Huddleston

Charles Morris Huddleston, 96, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016, at Shawnee Hills Senior Living in Shawnee, KS.

He was born November 19, 1919, in Livingston, MT, son of Charles Victor and Russie Morris Huddleston. On April 24, 1949, in Sedalia, he married Dorothy Glee Huddleston, who preceded him in death on February 22, 2014.

Mr. Huddleston retired as Vice-President of Zephyr Manufacturing, where he had worked for 37 years. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had served on the church board and in many other capacities. He was also a member of Elks BPOE Lodge 125, the American Legion, the Sedalia Country Club, and the Sedalia Duplicate Bridge Club. He was active in youth baseball for many years and enjoyed playing golf. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Surviving are three children: Richard Huddleston (Judy), of Detroit, MI, Chuck Huddleston (Marye), of St. Louis, and Diana Ryan (Timothy), of Kansas City; eight grandchildren: Laura, Rachel, Alex, Sophia, Natalie, Stephanie, Lindsay and Kristen; and five great-grandchildren: Kenzie, Ellie, Madison, Grayson and Gavin.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Huddleston. His sister, Elva Lewis passed away on August 15, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Harper officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Cullin Hughes, Jordan Burns, Luke Sandberg, David Artigas, Timothy Ryan and Alex Huddleston.

Honorary bearers will be Harry Satterwhite, Gene Evans and Lou Tempel.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church.
