Chester S. Spradling, 86, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1938, in Rolla, a son of Chester and Bessie Spradling. On September 10, 1988, he married Carolyn Watkins, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2020.
He was a 1956 graduate of Rolla High School. In 1957, he went to work at the U.S. Geological Survey, and retired March 3, 1994 after nearly 37 years of service. Chester also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and an avid Mizzou fan.
He is survived by a brother, Ronald Spradling; and children, Jeff Birdsong (Mary Ann), Lorrie Keenum (Steve), Amy Dunkin (Wes), and Jennie Rodewald (Chris); many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Chester was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Cochran and Pat Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Heckart Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
