Clarence Ollan Allen, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Fair View Nursing Home.
He was born February 19, 1930, in Wayland, Kentucky, to Troy and Eva (Morris) Allen. He attended school in Wayland, KY, and graduated in 1948.
On February 14, 1959, he married LaDonna Fuller at the First Presbyterian Church in Salina, Kansas. They celebrated their 58
th
anniversary this year.
During his high school years, he delivered groceries and later drove a coal truck. After graduation, he went to Detroit for a year working at an automobile plant.
In 1950, he joined the Air Force, serving twenty-one years and retired at the rank of M/Sgt. During his career, he went to Air Police School in Memphis, Tennessee, where sometimes on town patrol he had coffee with Elvis Presley who, at that time, was driving a truck for a living. He was stationed in: Germany; Scott AFB in Belleville, Illinois; Morroco; Schilling AFB in Salina, Kansas; Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, S.D. where he worked at missile sites; spent a year at Udorn AFB in Thailand training Thai guards; Shaw AFB in Sumter, S.C.; and attended the NCO Academy in Virginia. His last assignment was at Sculthorpe AFB, England where he was Chief of Security Police.
After retirement, they settled in Clifton City, Mo. He worked twenty years at TG&Y, both stores in Sedalia and Kansas City, KS. He also worked at Place’s in Sedalia.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters, Tamara Leroux (Steve), of Mokane, Angela Foster (Mark), of Sedalia, and Debra Harris (Gregg), of Bennington, KS; a son, Scott Allen, of Kansas City, KS; eleven grandchildren, Brianne Koch (Josh), of Seattle, WA, Brooke Pickrell (Matt), of Minneapolis, KS, Allen Leroux, of Fulton, MO, Marine SSgt. Jordan Allen (Kristina), of Beaufort, S.C., Ashli Fox (Mark), of Basehor, KS, Blaine Harris, of Lawrence, KS, Brittney Allen, of Sedalia, Rachael Allen, of Kansas City, KS, Tabra Allen, of Sedalia, and Army Pfc. Kyler Pierson, of Fort Hood, TX, and Brandon Foster, of Sedalia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Florence and Maella Koch, Aubrie Kierscht, Justus and Jentrie Pickrell, Alana, Reis and Christopher Allen, Pierceleah and Jaxson Fox, Bailey and Bella Scott, and Jeramiah Shoemaker; plus many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by one brother, Russell (Janice) Allen; sisters-in-law, Kristin Wright, of Sedalia, and Regina Miller, of Salina, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Ray and Richard Allen; and a sister, Shirley Combs.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.
Casket bearers will be members of the U.S. Air Force.
Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
