Sedalia

Clay Ulmont Poynter, III, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his home.

He was born on September 23, 1964, in Sedalia, MO, a son of Clay U. Poynter, Jr. and Margarethe E. Franklin.

Clay worked for many years at Hayes Wheels and then later for Conagra. He found immense joy in life's adventures. Whether he was fishing, riding his four-wheeler, drawing sketches, listening to classic rock, or hitting the open road on his motorcycle. He also had a love for boating, archery, and exploring the great outdoors, always finding ways to connect with nature and those around him.

Clay loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, making every gathering a special one. He enjoyed grilling and whipping up meals that brought everyone together. His knack for bringing people closer extended beyond the backyard-Clay's big heart and genuine interest in others made him a cherished part of every community he was a part of.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures, from taking scenic drives to watching NASCAR and football. A muscle car enthusiast, Clay loved attending car shows, marveling at the beauty and power of classic vehicles. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, a time that perfectly captured his love for celebration, laughter, and fireworks that lit up the night sky.

Clay's legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and an unyielding love for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

Survivors include three children, Brandyn Poynter of Sedalia, Brittney Richards (Bobby, Jr.) of Utah, Bailey Poynter (Travis Perry) of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Chrislynn, Bryleigh, River, Jude, Sebastian, and Violet; his girlfriend, Velda Weinreich; two sisters, Nancy Wren and Connie Boyer.
