Clyde David Webster

Clyde David Webster, 72, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

He was born January 21, 1948, in Laramie, WY, son of William Jewell and Mary Earlene (Smith) Webster.

On February 14, 1969, in Sedalia, he married Claire Lou (Pate).

Dave served six years in the United States Navy, four of those years during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Hancock for two years where he was the unofficial disc jockey affectionately known as “Country Boy Clyde.” He then served as a Gunner’s Mate on the river patrol boat with the Brown Navy in Danang, Vietnam with the 3

Marine Division.

Dave worked as a journeyman lineman for Par Electric. His main hobby was fly fishing and he belonged to Trout Unlimited. He once taught casting and how to make lures at a college in Kansas City.

Surviving are his wife, Claire; a son, Randy J Webster, of Sedalia; a sister, Millie Rhode, of Prairie Home; a sister, Cheryl Cox, of Independence; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Richard Webster; a sister, Pat Arne; and a brother, Paul Webster.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and VFW Post 2591.

Memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of Heckart Funeral Home.
