Connie R. Wood
Connie Rose Wood (Poole), a loving mother and grandmother and resident of Sedalia, MO, joined her Savior on October 8, 2017 at the age of 75 at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, MO.
Connie is survived by her daughter; Carol Schnakenberg and her husband, Gary Schnakenberg of Sedalia, MO, her grandchildren, Ken “Trey” Wood, Hughesville, MO, Amy Franklin, Katherean Swartz, Bloomington, IL, Amanda Dotson, Jefferson City, MO, Gary Schnakenberg, Jr., and George Schnakenberg both of Sedalia, MO; and her nine great-grandchildren, her sister Dona Jean Brown, Worden IL, her brothers Ronald Poole, and Jinny Poole, St Louis, MO, John David Poole, and Linda Poole, Pocatello, ID and Russell “Rusty” Poole, and Linda Poole, Eureka, MO, her sisters-in-law she called her Sisters-in-Heart. She is predeceased by her husband Ken Wood, her son Ken Wood, Jr., and sister Carolyn Stapleton.
Connie was born in Granite City, IL in October 20, 1941 to Conrad Poole and Rose (Burke) Poole. She was the oldest of six children. On August 2, 1958 she entered into marriage to Kenneth Wood of Versailles, MO. She was married to Ken for 28 years in which they farmed cattle and hogs, while raising two, well-loved children. Even though they divorced in 1987, she said loved him until the day she died.
Earlier in her life she enjoyed sewing clothes for her family, gardening and entertaining the many friends she and her husband had. In the late 1970’s she attended and graduated from MFA’s Feminine Farrowing School. Connie retired after 23 years from Fasco Industries in 2003 to live with her daughter and her family. This allowed her the freedom to outrageously spoil her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. Connie enjoyed nothing more than her family and her flowers. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
At her request there will be no services held. She asked that everyone remember her life and not to gather to celebrate her death.
Arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
