He was born November 14, 1961, in Redwood City, CA, a son of the late Raymond Edward and Ruth Mary (Thomas) Bowers.

He was a 1981 graduate of Pilot Grove High School. After high school he received training from John Deere and then went to work as a mechanic for them. After he moved to California in 1984, he went to work for Vickers Company, doing concrete sawing. He then chose to purchase a truck and go to work for United Van Lines as an independent hauler. He moved back to Missouri in 2002. He purchased the farm located near Smithton where he resided. He continued to drive his truck several years as he grew his farm. He loved taking care of his cows and chickens. When he decided to stop trucking, he went to work for Siegel Gravel for a time. He also did mechanic work from his shop located on his property.

His first interest was his animals and fishing at his pond. He enjoyed getting together with his family and friends to play games both indoors and outdoors. He spent many hours playing cards, laughing and visiting with friends as they sat around a campfire or a pan of hot oil cooking fish. He also enjoyed going to tractor pulls and rodeos.

Curtis was a Christian.
