Dale Langston Delarm, Sr.

Dale Langston DeLarm, Sr. 86, of Smithton, MO, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born May 16, 1936 in Bakersfield, MO, a son of Hayward and Lorena (Langston) DeLarm. On June 30, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in West Plains, MO he married Saundra Faye Whitsell who survives of the home.

Dale was a 1954 graduate of West Plains High School. He graduated from the Missouri School of the Mines in Rolla with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Dale honorably served in the United States Army and was a member of the Smithton United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge in Macon, MO, where he served as Exalted Ruler, Masonic Lodge in Callao, MO, where he served as Worshipful Master and the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. He worked for 40 years as a Civil Engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. When he wasn’t hunting, fishing or golfing you could find him busy supporting all of the various activities of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Saundra of 63 years; two children, Dale Langston “Shay” DeLarm, Jr. and his companion, Angie Millsaps of Belden, MS, Melissa Lightfoot and her husband Greg of Warrensburg, MO; three grandchildren, Dale Langston “Hunter” DeLarm, III, Parker Lightfoot, and Audrey Lightfoot.

In addition to both of his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Lightfoot, and one brother, Leon DeLarm.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm until service time on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO. Masonic services will start at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with funeral services immediately following with Rev. Jason Veale officiating. Burial will be held in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona, MO at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022. Memorial contributions are suggested to Smithton United Methodist Church or the Lake Creek Camp Meeting.
