Danny William Swan, 59, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at his home.
He was born September 7, 1959, in Kansas City, born to Richard and Patsy (Quall) Swan, and son to Richard and Marcie Swan.
Danny worked as a mechanic, a job he loved. He had a passion for muscle cars. He souped up every car he owned. He and his dad built his first truck from top to bottom.
He was raised in California and loved to surf. He would often go surfing on his lunch breaks. One of his favorite memories from high school was that they filmed the movie “Grease” at his school.
Danny served honorably in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Specialist 4. He spent time serving in Korea. He was proud of his grandson who is currently serving in the military and was excited about his other grandson who is going to be following in his footsteps serving in the Army National Guard in a few months.
Danny was an honorable man. He was honest and trustworthy, and was good about sharing the experiences of his life with others. He was a good storyteller and was always up on current events.
To his family, he was their hero.
Surviving are three children, Angela Hood Vanderlinden (Nathan), Barbara Dunlap Gibbs (Donald), and Jonathan Buri, all of Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Dillon, Braydn, Maxton, Julie, Galvin, Cheyann, Jaxson and Justin; and one great-granddaughter, Annalyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Swan.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Guffey officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army and the Patriot Guard.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
