Flossie Darlene Kidd, 76, of Sedalia, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at The Essex.
She was born February 7, 1944, in Wichita, KS, daughter of the late Arthur and Betty (Cocker) Dennis. On January 21, 1971, in San Luis Obispo, CA, she was united in marriage to Cleo D. “Bud” Kidd who preceded her in death on June 10, 2014.
Darlene was raised and educated in San Francisco and Arroyo Grande, CA. She was a 1962 graduate of Arroyo Grande High School and later received an Associates degree at Cuesta Community College. She worked in the health care field her entire working career with the majority as a nursing home social worker. She retired in 1994.
Supporting Veterans was important to her. She was a Lifetime Member of Atascadero Auxiliary 2814. She was also Department President for the State of California 1991-1992 and was recognized as one of the first Outstanding Presidents in many years.
Darlene enjoyed arts and crafts including drawing, crochet and sewing. She cherished her friendships and never met a stranger.
Surviving are two children, Charles Loucks, and his wife, Brenda, and Leslie Clavier, and her husband, Chris, all of Sedalia; a brother, Arthur John Dennis, and his wife, Cathy, of the State of California; five grandchildren, Kristen Cochran, and her husband, Joe, Jamie Loucks, Heather Samson, and her husband, Casey, Madilynn Clavier and Chloe Clavier, all of Sedalia; seven great-grandchildren; Aaron Sceales, of the East Coast, who was like a son to her; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a Veterans organization of donor’s choice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or do a random act of kindness in Darlene’s memory.
