David Wayne Byrd, 72, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021, at his home.
He was born October 15, 1948, in Sedalia, son of Wayne Henry and Lela Fern (Buffon) Byrd.
On December 17, 1988, at Marshall Junction, he was married to Glenda Susan (Uptegrove).
David served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and went on to retire from the National Guard. He worked as a mechanic for many years and retired from Waterloo Industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was a caring man and would do anything for his loved ones.
Surviving are two children, David Jr. and Kimberly; three step-children, Jason Uptegrove (Sarah Thomas), April Edgar (Charlie Ford), and Stacey Uptegrove; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Carolyn Miller, Barbara Pile and Anita Parish.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Kortum; and a brother, Roger Byrd.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Crown Hill Cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation, however friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021, at Heckart Funeral Home.
