Davijean Hatfield Lyles, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born March 25, 1925, in Sedalia, daughter of Raymond and Verna Swope Hatfield.
On January 25, 1945, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to William R. Lyles, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1997.
Davijean graduated from Smith-Cotton High in 1943 and worked at AAA Worldwide Travel before retiring. Most of her early life centered around being a mother.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women and the Ladies Circle. She had also taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed traveling and cooking, and volunteered for many years with the Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary. Davijean will be remembered as a very caring person, always attentive to the needs of others.
Surviving are five children: Larry Lyles (Sara), of Sedalia, Rich Lyles, of Camdenton, Kathy Collins (Gene), of Sedalia, Laura Cavin, of Columbia, and Steve Lyles, of Kansas City; six grandchildren: Shauna Fisher, Sarah Cavin, Lindsey Goins, Troy McDonough, Kyle Collins and Kara Collins; five great-grandchildren: Garrison, Jackson, Esabella, Jaiden and Gabriella; her sister, Jackie Coffman, of Topeka, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Ramseyer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.
Casket bearers will be Gene Collins, Kyle Collins, Cliff McBride, Bob Leftwich, Jerry Greer and Warren Semler.
Honorary bearers will be Cleota Perkins and Davijean’s grandchildren.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
