Deloris Jean Morton, 87, of Sedalia, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia.

She was born February 6, 1928 in Sedalia, daughter of Edward Franklin and Hazel Virginia (Hill) Davis.

October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Donald G. Morton at East Sedalia Baptist Church by Rev. Walter P. Arnold.

As an infant she was enrolled in the nursery of East Sedalia Baptist Church. She made her profession of faith at age 14 and was baptized in 1943. She served in many different areas of the church, singing in the choir for approximately 50 years.

She attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School class of 1946. She was then employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co, Sedalia as telephone operator, transferring to the Business Office in 1967 and retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Bothwell Hospital Auxiliary, having served as Membership Chairman, Year Book Coordinator, and Teller. She was a former Reach To Recovery Volunteer, a Lifetime Telephone Pioneer, a former member of Helen G. Steele Music Club and PEO.

November 2, 1952 she married Russell Franklin Cole, who preceded her in death November 15, 1963. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Edward F. & Hazel V. Davis, daughter, Marsha Jean (Cole) Vickrey, son-in-law Carl William (Bill) Vickrey, a sister, Wilma Faye Mosby, a brother Wayne Franklin Davis.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Donald G. Morton of the home, grandson William Russell Vickrey, & wife, Jennifer Renee, granddaughter Rachel Jean (Vickrey) Rayburn & husband, Matthew Aaron Rayburn, two great grandsons, Trevor Aaron Rayburn, & Ethan William Rayburn all of Conway, AR.

She is survived by a sister, Betty Jo Holman and her husband Lloyd Holman, Gladstone, MO, a sister-in-law Virginia Davis, Raymore, MO, brother-in-law Harry Mosby, Jr. Liberty, MO, several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at Heckart Funeral Home on Tuesday with visitation at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m. with Jeff Page officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be Steve Burton, Gary Mosby, John Wilson, Stephen Durrill, David L. Bergman, David G. Bergman.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Erville Dean, George and Marlene Brady, Peggy Curran, Janice Daleen, Betty Keane, Judy Lane, Don & Pat McMullin, Claudell Moore, Charles Palmer, Gerry Sumners, Bill & Evelyn Watson, Betty & C. H. Williams, Sharon Yonce, Linda Creach, Denise Case, Jeanie Bergman, Jack & Betty Blackwell.

In lieu of flowers it is suggested memorial contributions be made to East Sedalia Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
