Dixie Voncille Harris

Dixie Voncille Harris, 80, of Sedalia, passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 17, 2017, at her home.

She was born on December 12, 1936, daughter of Kenneth and Gertrude Lee in Maryville, Missouri.

Dixie worked as a civil servant for the Marine Corps. She later worked at Walmart and in admissions for the Missouri State Fair.

She was a member of Parkview Christian Church, where she was a participated in the Dorcas Circle and Be Forever Young. She was also a member of NARFE and volunteered often at Open Door. She loved crafts of all types. Her main hobby however was making friends with anyone she met.

She is survived by three sons, Phillip Slayden (Sue), of Independence, Randolph Slayden (Jenny), of Oak Grove, and Kevin Harris (Shelia), of Sedalia; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lesley Slayden; and two brothers, Jerol Duane Lee and Harlan Keith Lee.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Parkview Christian Church, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Heckart Funeral Home.
