Dora Dale Siron Mittenberg, 97, of Jefferson City, formerly of Sedalia, died Sunday, February 10, 2019, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
She was born October 29, 1921, at the family farm at Dresden, Missouri, to Oscar Sitlington Siron and Anna Richter Siron, both of whom have preceded her in death.
Dora Dale graduated in 1939 from Hughesville Missouri High School as valedictorian and from Central Business College of Sedalia, Missouri, in 1941.
On August 17, 1947, in Trenton, Missouri, she married John Sievers Mittenberg, who preceded her in death on October 2, 1990.
The youngest member of her family, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Siron, Claude Siron, Kenneth Siron and Charles Siron, as well as her sisters, Margaret Slaton, Alice Richey, Josephine Steele, Mary Hall, Nelle Rayle, and Anna Louise Siron.
She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces.
Her career was interesting including time as a legal secretary with the law firm of Lamb & Semple in Moberly, Missouri, until 1953; was co-owner with her husband of an industrial electric business and also a wholesale plumbing supply business in Moberly, Missouri, from 1949 until they both retired in 1967. She became quite active in politics and in 1973 was appointed as Missouri Collector of Revenue by then Governor Christopher S. Bond. She retired from the Missouri Department of Revenue in 1986.
She is a member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star since 1950 and the White Shrine of Jerusalem since 1952.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Harper officiating.
It is the request of Dora that there are to be no monetary memorial contributions.
