Dorothy Dee Eding, 102, a lifelong resident of Sedalia, MO passed away March 18, 2022 at the Sylvia Thompson Care Center in Sedalia.
Dorothy was born July 4, 1919 to Herman G. Berger and Anna (Heitman) Berger. She graduated from Smith -Cotton High School in 1937 and attended the Sedalia Business College. She was a Switchboard Operator and later a Service Representative of Southwestern Bell in Sedalia from 1939-1946
On May 22, 1941 Dorothy was united in marriage to Chester O. Eding. They had two children: Dennis S. Eding and Marsha G. Eding.
Together Dorothy and Chester owned and operated the Sedalia Coast to Coast Hardware Store and co -owned Dutch Maid Coin-O-Matic Laundries.
Dorothy was a loving Mother, an avid bridge player, a skilled seamstress, a world traveler, and lover of the Liberty Park Summer Band Concerts as well as the Community College Arts and Travel Programs and the Sedalia Scott Joplin Ragtime Festivals. She volunteered at the Open Door and for the Girl Scouts of America at Camp Sacajawea. She cherished her summer visits to Northern Minnesota and Lake Superior.
From birth to death, Dorothy is the longest living member of the Sedalia St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and belonged to the Esther Circle.
Surviving are her daughter Marsha Eding (Shorewood, MN) and daughter- in- law Carla Eding (Sedalia).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Eding and her son, Dennis Eding.
Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Dorothy’s family would like to invite friends for light refreshments at the Heckart Family Center next to the funeral home following the graveside at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
