Dorothy Irene Beykirch, 87, of Sedalia, died Monday, August 24, 2015, at Sylvia Thompson Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 6, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana, an only child of Willis and Margaret Thomas. On April 24, 1954, in St. Louis, she married Robert Christopher Beykirch, who preceded her in death on January 13, 2000.
Known as “Dot”, she attended Webster College in St. Louis and graduated with both an undergraduate and master’s degree in Social Work. After her marriage to Bob, the couple acquired the Budweiser Distributorship in Sedalia in 1957. The one truck organization quickly grew to a fleet and expanded to several other locations around Missouri and Kansas. Dot was dedicated to helping Bob succeed in the business and developed many wonderful relationships through the Budweiser Industry.
Dot had always wanted a huge family and she received her wish. While raising five sons and one daughter would test anyone’s skills, Dot did it with a smile on her face. She had a strong faith and she loved her family, Cardinal’s Baseball and her many friends. She was active in Sacred Heart Parish activities, CASA, Right to Life Organizations, Bothwell Auxiliary, PEO and Sorosis.
She is survived by sons Paul (Kathy) and Joe (Donna) of Sedalia, Greg (Courtney) of West Plains, Steve (Jana) of Pittsburg, Kansas, daughter Mary Antoine (Kyle) of Kirksville, Mo and daughter-in-law Sherry Buckley (Jim) of Sedalia. In addition, she was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Bill, on September 5, 1998.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Prayers of the Rosary will be said at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be at Sacred Heart Church, Sedalia, Mo on Thursday, August 27 at 10 am.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Antoine, John, Bailey, and Bradley Beykirch, Kyle Antoine, and Jim Buckley.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Foundation, or CASA in care of the funeral home.
