Dorothy Louise Iuchs, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing in Crystal City.
Born November 8, 1929, in Sedalia, she was one of two daughters of Lloyd and Camilla (Dillow) Kirkpatrick.
On May 11, 1952, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Charles Gerald “Jerry” Iuchs. This union of 67 years was blessed with four children. Jerry preceded her in death on September 9, 2019.
After high school, Dorothy attended Sedalia Business College. She worked for a time at a savings and loan in downtown Sedalia. Then she devoted her life to being a wife and mother, and helping run the family business, Sedalia Steel and Wire.
Dorothy was an active member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Among many other things, she delivered flowers to the homebound and helped with funeral dinners.
She was active in the community, serving on the Red Cross board and delivering Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club, Pettis County Extension Club, and Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Scott Joplin Music Festival and helped sign up children for Red Cross swimming lessons. When her kids were young, she was a leader and teacher with the Striped College 4-H Club.
Her hobbies included embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, and reading. She loved to square dance.
Surviving are three children: Jeri Lou Doak (Skip), of St. James, Nancy Hodge (Rick), of St. Louis, and Rodney Iuchs (Karen), of Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Sara, Amy, Garrick, Kelly, Kathryn, Timothy, Christopher and Jeremy; eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Smith (Ray), of Alcoa, TN; three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Kirk Iuchs on March 12, 1968.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday,

, at Heckart Funeral Home. Masks will be required at the visitation and service.
Casket bearers will be Garrick Hodge, Timothy Iuchs, Christopher Iuchs, Jeremy Iuchs, Aaron Beatty, Trey Thompson and Andrew Gatschet.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), in honor of Jackson Hodge, great-grandson.
