Edward W. Cook

Edward Waldo Cook, 90, of Sedalia, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

He was born June 20, 1927, in Lamar, son of Herman W. and Grace M. (Yeager) Cook, who preceded him in death. On December 22, 1945, in Sedalia, he married Ruth Anne Berry.

Mr. Cook served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He owned and operated Cook’s Used Furniture and Antiques. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting antiques. He was a conservationist and enjoyed tree planting.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Ruth Anne; three children, Stephen N. Cook, of Sedalia, David A. Cook (Kathy), of Marshall, and William E. “Bill” Cook, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Jason, Derek, Stephanie and Kara; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne E. Cook, of Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Susan Louise Cook Young Neeley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.

Casket bearers will be Vic Cook, Anthony Cook, Paul Cook and Barney Knight.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Broadway Presbyterian Church.
