Elaine Clarice Starke, 89, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.
She was born August 22, 1931, in Wausa, NE, a daughter of the late George and Vera (Rhodes) Nelson. On June 11, 1950, in Sedalia, she married James L. Starke, who survives.
Elaine was a 1949 graduate of Smithton High School. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed sewing, quilting and re-upholstering furniture. She loved her cats and dogs. Elaine was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother and friend.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by three children: David Starke (Heidi), of Windsor, Deborah DeGraff (Doug), of Lee’s Summit and Steven Starke (Nopawan), of Sedalia; five grandchildren: Chad Starke, Chrissy Starke, Matt Starke, Nick Organ and Mia Phutrakul; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: Doris, Ken and Don.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Calvin Pritchard officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
