Ellen Jane Mickens, 90, of Sedalia, passed away Friday evening, July 24, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born December 12, 1924, in Aurora, IL, daughter of Robert and Mary Agnes Davis. On July 25, 1944, in Couer d’Alene, ID, she married Kenneth William Mickens, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2012.
Mrs. Mickens was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She had worked at Inter-State Studios and was the manager at Top Value Stamp Company. She was a member of Eastern Star, enjoyed playing Bingo, and doing crossword and word puzzles.
Surviving are three children, Mary Lou Black, of Columbia, Betty Ellen Schuster (Ron), of Winfield, IL, and Dr. Kenneth William Mickens II (Kris), of Louisville, CO; nine grandchildren, James Black (Kristy), Laetitia Jane Craig, Jeffery Black, Benjamin Black, Theresa Clarke (Joe), Phillip Schuster, Kenneth W. Mickens III, Kassandra Mickens and Kaylee Mickens; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances, Willeen and Betty Ann; and a brother, J.R.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Bowen officiating.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the funeral home.
