Elneta Leal Estes, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.
She was born October 9, 1927, in Sedalia, daughter of the late Ernest and Hester Blanche (Wayman) Marshall. On May 5, 1947, in Sedalia, she married Robert Lee Estes who preceded her in death on July 11, 1992.
Elneta was a 1945 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She ran Nu-Way Café, Estes Café and Marshall’s Café on the fairgrounds. She also worked in the domestics and lay-away departments at Kmart for a number of years. She was a lunch lady for the Sedalia School district and was affectionately known by the students as “Grandma E”.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron and was a Bethel Guardian for Job’s Daughters.
She enjoyed camping and spending time at the cabin in Ivy Bend at Lake of the Ozarks.
Survivors include a son, Terry R. Estes (Patty), of Sedalia; a daughter, Traci L. Evans (Tom), of Cañon City, CO; six grandchildren, Amy Morey, Ian Estes, Robert Wilfong, Ryan Wilfong, David Evans and Jeremy Estes; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Estes; a brother, Robert K. Marshall; and a great-grandson, Ezra Wilfong.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Heckart Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Amy Morey, Ian Estes, Robert Wilfong and Ryan Wilfong. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, David Evans and Jeremy Estes.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
