Elva E. Lewis

Elva Elizabeth Lewis, 88, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at her home.

She was born August 26, 1927, in Bozeman, Montana, daughter of Charles Victor and Russie Claudia Mae Morris Huddleston.

On July 16, 1950, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, she was married to Donald Kenneth Lewis, who preceded her in death on September 10, 2014.

Elva moved to Georgetown in 1933 and lived there her entire life. She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1945. While still in high school, she began playing piano and organ at Georgetown United Methodist Church, where she had been a member since 1933. She also taught Sunday School. She worked for over 45 years at Sedalia Credit Exchange. She and Donald were members of NARVRE and together they enjoyed gardening, square dancing, raising dogs and bowling. She also enjoyed baking.

Surviving are two children, David Lewis (Pegge), of Olathe, KS, and Lindy Thomas (Marshall), of Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren, Geoff Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Cory Lewis, Nate Lewis, Brittney Gaspard, Danny Thomas, Kacey Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Norma McConnell.

In addition to her parents, and husband of 64 years, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Huddleston on August 12, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenny Cripe officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
