Emily Mae Wilcox, 102, of Tewksbury, MA, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, North Billerica, MA.
She was born June 11, 1919, Flat Creek, Pettis County, MO, a daughter of the late Riley Eugene and Rachel Ann (Carpenter) Keele. On January 12, 1946, in Sedalia, she married Carroll Edward Wilcox, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1990.
She was a past member of First Assembly of God and currently a member of Crossroads Church of God in Sedalia. During the many years she was a member of First Assembly of God she served as Treasurer, choir member, Sunday School teacher and head of the Junior Sunday School Department, and President of the Women’s Missionary Council. While living in Massachusetts for the last five years, she attended New Colony Baptist Church in Billerica, where her son is the Associate Pastor of Music and Worship.
In her early years she worked at Dorn Cloney Laundry Company, Lamy’s and Town & Country Shoes. After the birth of her son, Keith, she became a homemaker. Emily enjoyed sewing, quilting, fishing, and had traveled to 47 of 50 states.
She is survived by a son, Keith D. Wilcox, D.M.A., Tewksbury, MA; sister-in-law, Patricia Wilcox, Woodstock, GA; niece, Jeannie Keele, Sedalia, MO; nephews, Wayne Keele, Lake Worth, FL, Gerald Keele, Polono, IL, Carroll (Earline) Keele, Sherwood, AR, and Wesley Keele, Sedalia, MO; niece, Donna Wilcox (Don) Ramey, Sedalia, MO; nephews, Thomas (Kathy) Wilcox, Woodstock, GA, Jeffrey (Lynn) Wilcox, Eau Clare, WI; many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley E. Keele and Rachel A. Carpenter Keele Peters, both of Sedalia; husband, Carroll E. Wilcox, Sedalia, MO; sister, Martha Marie Keele Simmons Lebegue, Sedalia, MO; brother, Eugene (Geraldine) Keele, Sedalia, MO; brother, Kenneth (Beth) Keele, Sedalia, MO; sister, Thelma Kuzma, Drums, PA; sister, Jeanette Keele Harmack Buckner, Portland, OR; brother, Donald Keele, Independence, MO; brothers-in-law, Lester Wilcox, Sedalia, MO; William E. Wilcox, Greenridge, MO; Emmett A Wilcox, St. Louis, MO; Vernon P. Wilcox, Sedalia, MO; and sister-in-Law; Lorena Wilcox, Sedalia, MO.
Funeral service will be at noon, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Rexing officiating. Pallbearers will be Thomas Wilcox, Moloki Honda, Walter Rexing, Dion Honda, Tim Keele and Donald Ramey.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
