In Loving Memory…

Evelyn E. Preuitt, 87, of Sedalia, MO, passed away August 7, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Evelyn was born June 9, 1927, in Warsaw, MO, the daughter of Garland E. and Nannie Maxwell Bailey. On December 25, 1944, she was married to Everett Preuitt Jr., who preceded her in death on March 30, 1994.

She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1944. Evelyn then attended Central Missouri State Teacher’s College in Warrensburg, Mo, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. During the war, she worked at the Quarter Master Depot in Kansas City, KS. After moving to Sedalia, she was first a bookkeeper at Taystee Bread Company and then at Mid-Continent Wholesale Co. Evelyn later became secretary for New Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Preuitt was a born-again Christian and a member of First Baptist Church. She attended the Bridge Builders Sunday School class and had been a member of Prime Time Singers, Helen G. Steele Music Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Best Western Bridge Club of Sedalia.

She is survived by one son, Warren Preuitt, and his wife, Cheryl; and two daughters, Teresa Tippie, and her husband, Bryan, and Nancy Edwards, and her husband, Jeff, all of Sedalia. Evelyn was proud of her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and was expecting her eighth great-grandchild in December.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bryan C. Tippie.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marlin Brown and the Rev. Ted Francis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Christopher Preuitt, Michael Edwards, John Schmidt, Steve Craighead, Bobby Lee and Owen Fox.

Honorary bearers will be Jim Woodall, Herschel Cantrell, Henry Addison, Dr. David Limbaugh, Dr. Robert Marquis and the Deacons of First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church of Sedalia.

The family would like to thank the staff of Winchester Meadows for the love and care they extended to Evelyn during her residency; Dr. Kenneth Azan for his medical expertise and compassion; as well as the staff of Bothwell Regional Health Center for their kind and professional treatment.
