Farrell Dean Shepherd, 73, of Sedalia, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
Born on January 19, 1951, in Sparta, Illinois, Farrell was the son of the late Fred L. Shepherd and Almeda Hall.
Raised in St. Louis, Farrell's heritage was a rich blend of cultures. His mother was of Seminole Native American descent, and his father served as a distinguished Buffalo Soldier. As the youngest of his siblings, Farrell was known for his mischievous charm.
A lifelong learner, Farrell earned his GED and possessed an insatiable curiosity for knowledge. He had a particular interest in the Moors, a group of African people who practiced Islam, and dedicated time to studying their history and culture.
He is survived by a brother, Frederick Shepherd, of Nixa; his caregivers, David and Barbara Fisher, and Samantha Carlock, of Sedalia; and his friends at Sunny Meadows.
