Florine Reynolds
Isa Florine Reynolds, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the home of her daughter.
She was born on April 18, 1929, in Maryville, the daughter of Loren E. and Ollie Elizabeth Horn. Florine lost her mother to tuberculosis when she was six years old. In 1937, her father married Edna Ethel McMackin who raised her as her own. This new family also included an adopted brother, Glen Ballenger.
On July 29, 1948, in Maryville, MO, Florine was united in marriage to Donald Gene Reynolds, who preceded her in death on February 6, 1998.
Florine graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville in 1947. After graduation she successfully passed a state qualifying test and taught all grades in a one room school in northwest Missouri.
After moving to Sedalia in 1951, she worked as a caseworker for Division of Family Services for a short time. She then went to work for Tallman Co. as a bookkeeper and treasurer until her retirement.
After coming to Sedalia, Florine was introduced to the sport of bowling. She became very active in the local association and this year marked fifty years of serving as an officer or director. She was very involved with youth bowling and eventually served as the processor for all youth memberships and awards for the Missouri Youth Bowling Association.
Florine was very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended as many of their activities as possible.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wolf, of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Julie Hirner (Don), of Smithville, Jamie Bowman (Joe), of Sedalia, and Jeff Wolf (Kelli), of St. Louis; seven great-grandchildren, Anna Hirner, Joseph Bowman, Trevor Jones, Jenifer Bowman, Ellie Hirner, Jessika Bowman and Brooks Wolf; a nephew, Barry Ballenger (Joyce), of Liberty; and nieces Glenda Hardesty (KC), Julie Byers, Kathy Backhus and Darlene Adams.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Wolf; granddaughter, Jordyn Ashley Bowman; and nephew, Brad Ballenger.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Casket bearers will be John Bishop, Jason Bishop and Dan Tallman.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at Heckart Funeral Home.
