Floy Anita Cross, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at Avow Hospice House in Naples, FL.
She was born December 4, 1929, in Chilhowee, daughter of the late Samuel and Alma (Stewart) Shultz. On August 31, 1948, she married Harold Taylor, who preceded her death on September 9, 1994. On June 7, 2008, she married Robert Cross, who preceded her in death on August 11, 2018.
Floy and Harold lived in Carey, OH during their early years of marriage. She and her late husband, Harold, moved to Blackburn, MO where they owned and operated Taylor Contracting for most of her life. She also lived in Concordia for several years. In 2008 she and husband, Robert Cross, moved to Brooking Park Village in Sedalia. They enjoyed dancing, fishing and traveling.
She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Sedalia and the United Church of Christ in Blackburn as an active member of the Dorcas Society. She was active in the American Legion Post 642 and VFW Post 2591 women’s auxiliaries.
Floy was well known for her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed dancing so much that she even danced in the living room with her cane during her later years. Other pastimes were crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Eikermann, of Sedalia, and Donna (Randy) Harris, of Naples, FL; two stepdaughters, Christine (Ron) Mathews, of Smithton, and Candie Fisher, of Kansas City, MO; two stepsons, Robert (Ruth) Cross and Gerald Cross, all of Sedalia; a brother, Keith (Rita) Shultz, of Lee’s Summit; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Taylor; a granddaughter, Michelle Fahrmeier; and a sister, Letha Stewart.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev.Tim Rehmer officiating. Pallbearers will be Nathan Fiene, Randy Harris, Greg Stewart, Bob Cross, Ron Mathews and Neal Mathews.
Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
